The 2015 Civic Type R Debuts at the Paris Motor Show

We just received the 2015 Honda Civic in stock here at Community Honda in Orland Park, and while we’re as excited as ever to be able to offer it to all of our Chicagoland drivers, ourPresentation of the new car eyes have been across the Atlantic at the Paris Motor Show’s debut of the 2015 Honda Civic Type R.

Since the Type R is built on the worldwide Honda platform, we still have no news on whether or not the vehicle will ever hit the shores of the United States let alone our new vehicle showcase, but as of right now, it looks to be exclusive to the European market. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t get excited about it.

What’s New About the Type R?

This vehicle is one of the most highly anticipated hot hatches in the history of the class, and the Civic Type R is so exciting not just because of what it can do, but also because it will be the first Honda to bear a turbocharged engine. The 2.0L turbo four-cylinder under the hood has been teased to produce “more than 276 hp.” And though some drivers will surely miss the feeling offered by Honda’s traditional VTEC engines, we think that the power will surely make up for it.

If you’ve seen the pictures, you probably also have noticed that the Type R has changed in its hot red paint job for a brilliant cool blue, ushering in a new age of the hot hatch. How new of an age are we talking about? Well, Honda has teased that the Type R will offer unmatched performance against models like the Integra, Accord, Civic, and even the famous NSX.

More powerful than the NSX; let’s let that one sink in. We do hope the Type R finds its way across the pond eventually.
