2018 Honda Accord Parked

Kelley Blue Book is the gold standard in new car reviews, and the following recent Honda models have won KBB Best Buy Awards:

  • 2018 Honda Accord – Overall and Midsize Car Best Buy*
  • 2018 Honda Civic – Small Car Best Buy*
  • 2018 Honda CR-V – Small SUV Best Buy*
  • 2018 Honda Pilot – Midsize SUV Best Buy*
  • 2018 Honda Odyssey – Minivan Best Buy*
  • 2018 Honda Clarity PHEV – Electric/Hybrid Car Best Buy*

Read on to find out how these Honda vehicles managed to beat the competition.

Best Buy Awards Highlights

Let’s take a closer look at some of the categories to see why Kelley Blue Book has chosen these vehicles:

  • The 2018 Honda Civic has earned a Best Buy Award* in the small car category for four years in a row thanks to its excellent efficiency and modern features.
  • Not only did the 2018 Honda Accord win in the midsize car category, it also earned the 2018 Overall Best Buy Award*. Its recent redesign adds high tech systems while retaining the excellent build quality Honda is known for.
  • The crossover category gets more and more competitive each year, but for 2018, the Honda CR-V has knocked it out of the park. Kelley Blue Book praised its luxurious amenities and overall versatility.
  • In early reviews, Kelley Blue Book called the 2018 Honda Odyssey the “best family car in the world,” with a flexile interior that’s miles ahead of the competition.

How Does Kelley Blue Book Choose the Best Buy Awards?

One of the biggest areas Kelley Blue Book looks at is overall resale value and 5-year cost to own. This lets you know how much a vehicle will depreciate over that time period. In addition, extensive real world testing of pre-production and new models informs their decision. This ensures that a Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Award winner will meet your driving needs for years to come.

2017 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition Has The Best Headlights of Any Truck According to IIHS*

2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E redThe brand new 2017 Honda Ridgeline is in stock now here at Community Honda, and according to new testing conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Ridgeline Black Edition and RTL-E offer the best headlights of any pickup on the market today*. When equipped with the available LED projector beam headlamps that come standard on the Black Edition and RTL-E trim levels, the Ridgeline received the best possible Good headlight rating according to the IIHS*.

Ridgeline Headlights Outperform Competition

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety instituted this new test for this year. Out of eleven different pickup models tested, the Honda Ridgeline when equipped with the LED projector headlights in RTL-E and Black Edition trims was the only one to achieve the Good rating*.

The difference between the ratings is stark. The Ridgeline with the LED low beams illuminated 358 feet of roadway ahead, while the worst performing model, the Chevrolet Colorado, lit up only 123 feet of roadway*. For reference, the Colorado is a midsize truck and a direct competitor of the Ridgeline. Even the 2017 Ford F-150 received the Poor rating from the IIHS, and they noted that the LED lights produced an unacceptable level of glare*.

The Honda Fit Wins 2016 J.D. Power Dependability Study Rankings

2016 Honda Fit

The 2016 Honda Fit is an exciting small hatchback that gives you plenty of interior space, cargo room, efficiency, and the latest technology. We also know that the Honda Fit offers class-leading dependability, thanks to the latest 2016 J.D. Power and Associates Dependability Study*. The 2013 Honda Fit – the study takes into account three total years of ownership, so this is the latest year – has been named the most dependable subcompact car by J.D. Power. Find out more about the latest Fit at Community Honda of Orland Park here in the Frankfort, IL and Chicagoland area!

J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability

The 2016 J.D. Power Dependability Study uses a thorough method to compile a dependability score via a comprehensive survey of vehicle owners who have purchased a new car in the past three years. The organization surveys thousands of vehicle owners to find out about any issues that have arisen through the course of normal driving and use. Any problems are compiled, and in the end J.D. Power assigns a “problems per 100” score, which relates how many issues drivers faced during the first three years.

The Honda Fit from the 2013 model year saw owners having the least problems, so it received the top billing in the Small Car segment. “The 2013 Honda Fit ranks highest in the Small Car segment to earn a dependability award,” writes Christian Wardlaw, for J.D. Power. “The 2013 Nissan Versa and 2013 Hyundai Accent rank second and third, respectively.”

The J.D. Power study found that many of the current problems faced by drivers in the first three years of ownership aren’t including issues with components like the engine or transmission, but rather with in-car technology. New infotainment systems, smartphone pairing, voice recognition technology, and other technology, result in many issues, even while the rest of the car is getting more reliable.

That the Honda Fit won its segment, and the Honda brand overall was well above the industry average and ranked seventh overall in the brand reliability study, indicates that Honda vehicles give drivers fewer problems. The Honda brand had only 126 problems per 100 vehicles – well above the 152 problems per 100 vehicle average industry-wide.

The 2016 Honda Civic Named Overall 2016 Best Buy by KBB.com

2016 Honda Civic

2016 Honda Civic

The 2016 Honda Civic earned the top honors in the Kelley Blue Book 2016 Best Buy awards, winning both the small car category and the overall award. The 2016 Honda Odyssey, the 2016 Honda Pilot, and the 2016 Honda CR-V also took home the 2016 Best Buy awards in their respective classes. All four Best Buys are available now here at Community Honda of Orland Park. Find out more about why these models won Best Buy awards below!

2016 Best Buy Overall Winner: 2016 Civic

The 2016 Honda Civic took home the Overall Best Buy honor as well as the Small Car Best award in Kelley Blue Book’s annual Best Buy Awards. Previously, the Civic had won the small car category in 2015, but Kelley Blue Book said that the fresh redesign of the tenth generation Civic made it a clear winner overall.

“The completely redesigned 10th-generation Civic has raised the bar for compact cars in general to a new level,” said Kelley Blue Book. “This Japanese compact sedan alters the playing field with its attention to detail, use of high quality interior materials and world-class drivetrain featuring Honda’s first mass production turbocharged engine.”

The Honda Civic is clearly the car to beat in the compact sedan class. Kelley Blue Book pointed out the all new 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, but even the new 2.0L four-cylinder base engine offers more power and more efficiency than the previous generation Civic. The new model is rated by the EPA at 31 mpg city/41 mpg highway* with continuously variable transmission and the 158 hp 2.0L engine, or 31 mpg city/42 mpg highway with the new 174 hp 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder.

But Kelley Blue Book says that these models aren’t even the most exciting bit of the new tenth generation Civic: “The best part of the 2016 Honda Civic story is yet to come as the sedan will soon be joined by other variants, including a coupe, 5-door hatch, and sporty Si and Type R performance models, the latter of which hasn’t been seen in the U.S.”
