Midsize sedans have been the bread and butter of the American car buyer for decades. Two of the top choices on the market are undoubtedly the 2015 Honda Accord and the 2015 Nissan Altima. If you’re considering an upgrade to a new sedan here in Frankfort or Orland Park, IL, then make sure you take a close look at these two models – one might just be a better choice for your needs!

Powertrain and Performance

On the surface, the 2015 Nissan Altima and 2015 Honda Accord offer similar powertrain options. The Nissan Altima comes with a 2.5L four-cylinder that makes 182 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. The Honda Accord gets a 2.4L gas engine that makes 185 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque.

If you decide you want more power, both sedans offer a 3.5L V6 engine option. The 3.5L V6 in the Altima puts out 270 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque and results in EPA fuel economy ratings of 22 mpg city/32 mpg highway. The V6 powered Accord generates 278 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque, while still putting up 21 mpg city/34 mpg highway based on EPA estimates with the six-speed automatic transmission*.

You can see that the Accord comes out ahead with either engine option!

Safety

While both models get good safety scores and impressive safety features, the 2015 Honda Accord received a five-star crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the rollover safety, side barrier crash, and front side crash tests, but the 2015 Nissan Altima only received three stars in the front side crash test and four stars in the overall side barrier crash safety and rollover safety rating.
