The 2014 Honda Civic vs. the 2014 Ford Focus

2014 Honda Civic Sedan

A driver looking for an affordable car with plenty of standard features would do well with a 2014 Honda Civic sedan. This year’s model has received plenty of upgrades including tighter performance and modern features. While Honda has worked hard to keep the Civic competitive, the 2014 Ford Focus is essentially unchanged from last year’s model. Is it even worth considering? Let’s take a closer look at both models.

Vehicle Features

The Honda Civic comes standard with a pretty impressive array of features for a compact car. There’s a five-inch display screen featured in every model that provides access to a rearview camera and iPod connectivity through the car’s USB port. Models also have Bluetooth connectivity so you can make calls and send texts without having to take your eyes off the road or hands off the wheel. You can even access Pandora internet radio in the car. None of those features come standard on the Focus.

Fuel Economy

In terms of Fuel Economy, the 2014 Ford Focus isn’t terrible at 26 mpg city and 36 mpg highway, which are solid numbers for a compact sedan. But they simply don’t stand up to the 2014 Honda Civic. According to the EPA, the 2014 Civic sedan with its CVT transmission is rated at 30 mpg city and 39 mpg highway.* You’ll be taking fewer trips to the gas station and spending less over the course of ownership.

Passenger Space

The Civic sedan has 107.1 cubic feet of interior volume while the Ford Focus has 103.1 cubic feet. This translates to more front head room and should room. In the back, there’s a full three inches more legroom, so you’re passengers will be more comfortable.
